Accel
Privacy policy
Last updated 17 September 2026
In short: the Accel app needs no account, shows no ads and does no advertising tracking. Your settings stay on your device. The app connects to the internet for four things only: to check and process the Accel Pro purchase (RevenueCat), to send anonymous crash reports, which you can switch off in the settings (Sentry), to deliver feedback you choose to send us (Wiredash), and to show the roadmap and count your votes if you open it (UserOrient). This website sets no cookies and uses only anonymous, cookie-less usage statistics.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Verena ZaiserStuttgart
Germany
accelmetronome [at] gmail [dot] com
2. The Accel app
2.1 What the app does not do
The app does not require an account, does not show advertising and contains no advertising or tracking SDKs. It does not build a profile of you and never sells or rents data. The only services it talks to are the four described in sections 2.5 to 2.8, each for one clearly limited purpose.
2.2 Data stored on your device
Your settings (tempo, time signature, subdivision, accents, sound, volume, dynamic mode and gap trainer settings) and any custom presets you save are stored locally on your device so the app can restore them on the next launch. This data never leaves your device. It is removed when you uninstall the app.
2.3 Permissions
- Notifications (Android 13 and later). The app asks once for permission to show a media-style notification so you can pause or stop the click from the lock screen. Declining only hides the notification; the metronome keeps working.
- Background audio. The app keeps the click running while your screen is off or another app is in front. On Android this uses a foreground service; on iOS the background audio mode. No data is processed for this purpose.
- Vibration. Used only for haptic feedback when you press a control.
- Internet. Used only for the four services in sections 2.5 to 2.8. The metronome itself works without a connection.
2.4 App stores
When you download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the respective store operator processes data (such as your account, device and download information) under its own privacy policy. We receive only aggregated, anonymous statistics from these platforms and no personal data.
2.5 In-app purchase: Accel Pro (RevenueCat)
Accel Pro is a one-time purchase made through the App Store or Google Play. To verify and restore that purchase we use RevenueCat, a service operated by RevenueCat, Inc., 2603 Camino Ramon, Suite 200, San Ramon, CA 94583, USA. When the app starts and whenever you buy or restore Accel Pro, the RevenueCat SDK sends the following to RevenueCat's servers:
- a random app user ID that the SDK generates on your device (it is not linked to your name, email address or store account on our side),
- the purchase receipt or transaction ID issued by the store, and the product bought,
- the app version, platform, device model, operating system version and locale,
- your IP address, as part of every request (RevenueCat uses it to derive an approximate country).
We use this data to check whether Accel Pro is unlocked on your device, to restore the purchase on a new device and to handle refunds. The legal basis is the performance of the purchase contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). We cannot see your payment details; those stay with Apple or Google. RevenueCat processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Transfers to the USA are covered by the EU standard contractual clauses and, where RevenueCat is certified, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Purchase records are kept for as long as the purchase is valid and as long as tax and commercial law require. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.
2.6 Crash reports (Sentry)
To find and fix errors, the app uses Sentry, a service operated by Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry), 45 Fremont Street, 8th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. Our Sentry data is stored in Sentry's EU data region (Frankfurt, Germany). If the app crashes or runs into an internal error, it sends a crash report. Nothing is sent while the app runs without errors; we do not use Sentry's performance monitoring or profiling. A report contains:
- the error message and stack trace (which parts of the app were running),
- the app version, platform, device model, operating system version, locale and free memory,
- a random installation ID so that repeated crashes on one device can be counted as one problem,
- the time of the crash and the app's state shortly before it (screen shown, controls tapped, settings in use).
Reports contain no account, no contact details and none of your presets by name. The IP address of the request is used by Sentry only to receive the report; the SDK is configured not to attach it to reports. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in finding and fixing errors so the app works reliably (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Sentry processes the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Should Sentry's US parent company access data in the course of providing the service, this is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the EU standard contractual clauses. Crash reports are deleted after 90 days. See Sentry's privacy policy for details.
Turning crash reports off. You can object to this processing at any time: open the settings in the app and switch off "Send anonymous crash reports". The app then stops Sentry immediately and sends no further reports, and the choice is remembered on your device.
2.7 Feedback you send from the app (Wiredash)
The app has a feedback form powered by Wiredash (wiredash.com), a service operated from Germany. Nothing is sent until you tap "Send". When you do, Wiredash receives:
- the message you wrote and, if you add one, a screenshot you can annotate before sending,
- your email address, only if you enter it so we can reply,
- the app version, platform, device model, operating system version, locale and screen size, so we can reproduce what you describe.
We use this data solely to read and answer your feedback. The legal basis is your consent, given by sending the form (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in improving the app (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Wiredash processes the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Feedback is deleted once it has been handled, at the latest after twelve months. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us; we will then delete the feedback. See Wiredash's privacy policy for details.
2.8 Roadmap and feature voting (UserOrient)
The "Roadmap" entry in the app's menu shows planned features and lets you vote on them or suggest your own. It is powered by UserOrient (userorient.com). Nothing is sent to UserOrient until you open the roadmap. When you do, UserOrient receives:
- a random user ID that UserOrient issues the first time you open the roadmap and that is stored on your device, so your votes are counted once and shown again next time (it is not linked to your name or store account; we pass no name, email address or other identifier to UserOrient),
- the features you upvote and any comments you write,
- if you submit a feature request: the text you wrote, your email address only if you choose to enter it so we can follow up, and the app version, platform, device model and operating system version,
- your IP address, as part of every request.
We use this data solely to show the roadmap, count votes and decide what to build next. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in planning the app around what its users want (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) and, for feature requests, comments and an email address you enter, your consent, given by sending them (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). UserOrient may store or process data outside the European Union; according to its privacy policy it applies appropriate safeguards for such transfers as required by the GDPR. Votes, comments and feature requests are kept for as long as the roadmap item they belong to is relevant; you can ask us to delete yours at any time by emailing us. See UserOrient's privacy policy for details.
3. This website
3.1 Hosting and server logs
This website is a static site. When you visit it, the hosting provider automatically processes technical data that your browser transmits: IP address, date and time of the request, requested page, referrer URL, browser type and operating system. This data is needed to deliver the site and to ensure its stability and security (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Server logs are deleted by the hosting provider after a short retention period and are not merged with other data.
3.2 Cookies and fonts
This website sets no cookies. Web fonts are served from our own server; no requests are sent to third-party font providers.
3.3 Anonymous usage statistics (TelemetryDeck)
To understand how many people visit this website and which pages they view, we use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service operated by TelemetryDeck GmbH, Berlin, Germany. TelemetryDeck sets no cookies and does not fingerprint your browser. When a page loads, it receives the page URL, referrer, browser type, operating system and screen size. Your IP address is combined with a salt that changes daily and hashed (SHA-256) before storage, so it cannot be traced back to you; the raw IP address is not stored. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring and improving this website (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). See TelemetryDeck's privacy policy for details.
3.4 Contact by email
If you contact us by email, we process the data you provide (your email address and the content of your message) solely to handle your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR). Messages are deleted once your request has been resolved, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
4. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15),
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16),
- erasure (Art. 17) and restriction of processing (Art. 18),
- data portability (Art. 20),
- object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21),
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77).
Your settings and presets live only on your device, so you can change or delete them directly in the app or by uninstalling it. Crash reports can be switched off in the app's settings (section 2.6). For purchase records, crash reports, feedback or roadmap votes and requests, contact us at accelmetronome [at] gmail [dot] com ; because purchase and crash data is keyed by random IDs, please tell us roughly when you bought Accel Pro or when the crash happened so we can find the record.
5. Children
The app is suitable for all ages. It does not ask for any personal data, and the services above receive only technical data, a purchase receipt, or feedback, votes and feature requests that the user chooses to send.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or the website changes. The current version is always available at this address; the date at the top indicates the last revision.
